One Sky Project is an international collaboration focused on increasing understanding about cultural and indigenous astronomy, its historical and modern applications, and how our One Sky connects us all.

Our star, the Sun, brings light and life to the Earth. The Sun is not a boring star --- its surface is covered with magnetic fields, generated in the interior, that come and go over 11-year cycles of solar activity. We have studied the Sun for more than 400 years, and questions about the origins of solar magnetism remain amongst the most important in all of classical physics. The history studying this solar activity has deep ties in Colorado, and was central to Boulder becoming a world-renowned center of scientific research.

Take a seat, close your eyes, and just for a moment imagine a world where clothing never existed. The development of tailored clothing dramatically improved people’s ability to keep warm. Without clothing, human populations would never have solved the adaptive challenges involved in migrating across the world during the last Ice Age, a cold, harsh environment where mammoths and giant sloths roamed the Earth. The sewing needle, therefore, was a vital tool that changed the trajectory of humankind as we know it.
